I like Masterchef better than the other cooking comps.
Great way to start this season rather than the mass single tasks they used to do.
Now every hopeful contestant gets 1 hour to cook a dish tasted by the 3 judges.
With second chance contestants cooking for a blind tasting.
24 contestants get an apron.

Laughed hard at Sashi's recipe going up in flames.
Also want Khanh and Jessie in the finals.

That WAS funny.
Gee I saw a side of Jess I hadn't seen too much of.
She is very young and her naivity is showing in her cooking.
I actually thought she was a little more experienced but appears to be rehearsed.
Ben is surprising all of a sudden.
The next cook in Iceberg's looks full on with heaps of pressure.

Not happy with Jess' and Khan's offerings tonight. (Sago - blerk)
Hope they do better tomorrow night.
We're getting down to the pointy end of the competition now.

it's anyone's game, it would seem.
Ben was surprising. I got a feeling he even surprised the judges, which made me think they don't necessarily consider him as the 'ultimate winner' material. But who knows-it will depend on how the final 4 cook from here on in I suppose.
Jess is a bit up & down. Brilliant for her age but hasn't been hitting the high spots as consistently often lately.
Sometimes I wonder what really goes on behind the scenes. That almost 5 hour cook. Surely they should stop half way through and give everyone a 15 minute break for the toilet & to snatch a drink & snack?
And if you were up against it time wise, how distracting to have a judge there or a camera crew where you had to talk about your cook.

Gosh, what incredible pressure from Monty!
Whilst he was 'riding' Sashi, I could not help thinking that if I was in Sashi's boots I would throw a raviolo at him
As you said though Kopes, he showed his nuturing side. I still had a raviolo in my hand ready to throw though - sauce and all
No argument from me about the result - have just taken off my sunnies after seeing Matt Preston's suit though!!!!!!!
Great location - sure has changed a bit since I learned to swim there. It was just hot chips after lessons then lol

Does anyone else think there is potential for the "knife draw" to be a bit of a set up?
The contestants never scrabble over them, they seem to take the one nearest them & in order.
If the contestants were standing in any particular order you could more or less predict who would probably get what.
Mind you, it doesn't hurt the contestants to have to cook something out of their comfort zones.

I was thinking that springy but i have watched the knife draw and they do take from opposite/random sides, hence the judge will say careful when it's drawn.
How wonderful lane to have experienced early Bondi days and to see the Icebergs venue develop.
In my Gym days I would go from sauna to ice pool and always feel so alive afterwards.
The icebergs is an admirable institution that I hope lives on forever.
