No kidding.
That could be why I never had any.
However.....it's also worth noting that even with protection disasters can occur. Nothing is 100% effective....and that was especially true in the early days. The threat of falling pregnant was always there....but not if you were male!

i use 3-monthly deporalovera.
it's much less stress than taking a pill every day, occassionally forget, then have to use condoms, freak out when one gets lost and get a pregnancy test.
seriously, i had sex for 20 years and have managed to never get pregnant. the 2 times accidents happened i got pregnancy tests to be sure i am not.
there is NO freaking excuse to get pregnant (and carry to term) accidentally in this country and age unless you are mentally disabled 😉

I'm too old now to worry about it thank God.
For some women it's not that simple to avoid pregnancy if you have health issues. I don't mean mental ones but reproductive ones, or you have to take medication that interferes with the effectivness of the pill. As I said, not 100% effective in every instance.

The early days of the pill when they were still working out the hormone levels. Some of the dosages were very high. It could be said that the threat of pregnancy was not as worrying as the possibility of dying of blood clots or some other possibly related cause. I remember the headlines in the newspapers reporting these deaths.
No such thing as 3-monthly deporalovera - or a stack of other modern options - in those days.

you can have your tubes tied....or so.
i wanted to be sterilised when i was 16. my dr told me to come back when i was 30 just in case i change my mind.
i am 30- something now, never changed my mind and never will (suffering from brats screaming because they want something re-inforces my decision on a weekly basis.)
I can distinguish baby screams out of need (too hot/tired/thirsty/etc) and screams of angry brats just not getting what they want. The former makes me feel like walking up to the parent and suggest that they attend to their child needs, the latter makes me feel like taking the scull of said brat and smash it to a wall until it stops.
don't get me wrong.
i thought for a long time that i hated children until i found out that i only hate screaming brats and quite like children when they are well behaved and/or intelligent. you know the sort you can talk to just as if they were adults?

deporalovera is an ancient thing. it's sorta outdated.
i only take it cos otherwise i get excruciating pain every month.
a pain that makes all your muscles go limp, feel like you will faint any moment.
it's like getting kicked in the balls every 30 minutes by bruce lee for 3 days.
so yeah, i rather have the neanderthaler solution of outdated deporalovera.
even if it costs me 20 years of my life because i die from a blood cloth it's worth it.
