After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

No lights for us. I am close to a major street light display and every year cars cars cars cars go past...real hazard crossing the road as they are all gawking sooooo don't want to encourage any wrong turns. They never know where to go.

Tonight went for my 9km walk. Was rained on about halfway round in the usual manner. Better it rains, then it doesn't, so I don't mind it.

Morning all.  Huge rainbow in the early morn sky here.  Raining with thunder in the distance.  The new fishpond/watergarden is almost half full from the rain over the previous week.

Had an adventure on the expressway going into Sydney yesterday arvo.  Huge deluge of rain with hail and lightning strikes. Pulled over to the side of the road like many other drivers - I've never seen so much flooding due to the failing drainage.  Anyway the rain eased a little, and I was slowly entering the traffic, when a huge bushy tree fell across the road in front of me !!!!  So 3 lanes into 1 lane.  Then traffic lights blacked out along a main arterial road.  An easy hour trip turned into 2 hours.  

Got to the destination and met up with 3 siblings and sundry nieces/husbands/kids.  Wonderful evening spent reminiscing, listening to the current education facets that 6 of them are involved in, and wondering where the years went.

Comparing melanoma treatments, blood pressure, and other medical matters was not so good, but that's what our lives have been dealt.

Bushie, how about a rain-soft nozzle for the Fireman's gardening kit.

Or a special seat cushion for when he is entertaining the dogs on the verandah.

Other than that: some sandpaper and paving paint

Good luck today freddie and a night away would do you good at the moment - but remember, everything can be fixed.  I have noticed that when you are feeling a bit flat, this thread feels a bit flat also .

That road trip sounds terrible Deb.  Good you had a good catchup with the rellies though.

9 kms Amber - that's a good walk.  My friend had me walking 9 kms when we were all on holidays together.

Beautiful dog bushie.  Frank has just bought one of the soft nozzles for his vegie garden and loves it.

One thing B3 - when you have a move, you also have a good clean out.

Az, your grandaughter sounds very clever.  I admire anyone who can play like that, especially a 7 yo.  Wish we still had kerbside pickup.  Twice a year you can order it - at a cost.

I have craft day here today then a break-up tonight.  Frank has 2 volunteer breakups tomorrow so won't have to cook for the next few days - my dil has invited me for dinner tomorrow .

Just thinking about the blower/vac situation.

If you really think you need a blower, I suggest to have a look at what the gardeners/council workers use in the area.  I used to notice that the groundsman at Macca's used just a small blower one.  I had a blower/vac at the previous place, most cumbersome.  

Here with all the debris from The Hulk of a peppermint gum, I just use a grass rake on the paved areas and "sweep" with that.  Fairly quiet Physical Exercise.  And by the time I think I've finished, some more leaves/bark have dropped anyway.

For a small area like a pebbled garden, I would use the garden hose on high pressure and get down to the level of the gravel, and use the air/water to blow the leaves across and off on to the grass.

Just some thoughts for anyone interested

DEB did you end up buying a garden shredder/mulcher, ours is sitting idle atm, nothing needs shredding,  come rose pruning time it will be a different story.  We sold our large leaf vac before we moved as we dont have a use for it here, Mr B was given a high pressure hose for his birthday, it works like a treat on the pavers.
