Congratulations, lurker. I know this isn't in the nappy department,
but this is the best thing ever when you go to the supermarket.
Keeps 'em away from all the nasty germs on trolleys. A sound
investment when you consider they will use them for 2 - 2 1/2 years

Lurker, bear in mind some disposable nappies cause rashes on babies skin, depends on the baby.
The outlay for the cloth nappies is alot, but they can be used until the baby is t/trained.
My DD sold on ebay the outer part of the cloth nappies when she had finished with them, & got a fair bit of her money back.

I think the modern cloth nappies are a much bigger improvement on the old square cloth nappy folded up, with fluffy pants, flannel, or plastic (ick) pants over the top as far as nappy rash goes.
The modern cloth nappies have the absorbent core in them to draw moisture away from skin.
Are the new parents finding out the baby's sex lurker? I think it is nice to find out when baby is born, but it should would help when buying baby clothes in advance ,if you knew whether it was boy or girl.

Why don'r you buy a few packs of each size disposables up to 12 months. Even if they are planning on using cloth nappies there are still times when disposables come in very handy.

My DD took disposable nappies with her when she went out........some times it is more convenient to take disposables.

Haha am* you just reminded me of Fluffies
I used to use a blue nappy liner thing too..looked like todays chux cloth.
As far as nappy rash and disposables go, I think some tend to leave them on too long and try to get too much milegae out of them. A wet nappy is a wet nappy and needs changing.

MCN's are very trendy........ takes a bit of initial work to get set up with the outers and the liners, need a nappy bucket for soaking but they are way better than the old cloth style and disposables.
You can get some really nice ones.

No am, they're not. They want to be surprised, which I think is nice. I was telling them yesterday, when our first was born and the nurse said to me you have a baby boy, I thought oh yeah, well I suppose it had to be one or the other
