You can have mine if you want. I,m not using it.

I was a definate YES vote before the campaign began, but with all of the PC rubbish and bullying techniques adopted by the SSM supporters, shouting down and belittleing anyone with a different view to theirs they have lost me. I,m also not impressed with the way the gay lobby has hijacked the ABC. Things are pretty bad when ABC management have to remind staff that they should be impartial. Unfortunately the warning was not heeded. With this in mind I cant in good concience support the yes campaign as it sets a dangerous precedent to free speech.

I also cant bring myself to vote NO as I believe gays should be able to get married if they want.

The end result is SSM supporters have lost one YES vote because of their constant bullying and manipulation of the political process and media.

I,m abstaining !.... The weak politicians should have shown some bipartisanship and made a decision anyway without all of this rubbish.

Re: Postal vote

i dont think i was raised to punish one person because another person was a (insert description here)

i will put my X in the box of my choice, take the 2 minutes to post the envolope (prolly wont take that long) next time i'm shopping.

then forget it all until the winner is anounced.

i dont agree with the postal vote/survey, but i'll go along with it because its hardly putting me out is it? maybe 10 minutes total.

Once again we are in agreement David. ............By abstaining from the vote I am not punishing anyone  !!!................... I am not having any impact at all on the vote and not affecting those gays who wish to marry.

you just told everyone you had intended to vote 'yes'

so now the 'yes' vote will be 1 less, if my math works.

prolly wont make any difference, i know, but if thousands of voters (what else can you call us?) do the same and only 'no' voters do the right thing and take the 10 minutes to vote it may mean thousands of gay people who live peacfully but want the law changed so they can marry wont be able to.

so, because a small section of activists do bad things your opting out (your right) but the guy punching someone cos he didnt like the SSM display on the roundabout was ok? there are bad things going on both sides.

me, i made up my mind regardless of ads, public displays or nasty carp by activists. i'm an adult, i can decide for myself what is right and wrong here.

if i believed marriage could only be between a man and a woman i'd vote "NO" and be proud to tell it

exactly as i feel about voting 'YES'

i'm not gay, i dont know any gay people......i just think its the right thing to do

even though i dont believe in the process.

I havnt seen anyone here suggest the guy punching some-one was OK , have you ?  If so please advise the thread and post number.

The idiot who punched Kevin Rudds son was a lone ranger who did not claim to represent any group as far as has been reported. The gays who organised the illegal rally at the roundabout and placed the illegal signage the lone ranger was removing, where an established group of gay activists with facebook site and ongoing activities. Had the council and police done their job and required the rally organisers to hold their rallies and displays in an appropriate place, the incident with Rudd junior may not have occurred at all.

The illegal actions of the gay activists and the reluctance of authorities to require them to abide by the same rules as every-one else where partly to blame for this incident. But its not PC to point that little fact out is it ?

While I support the basic principle of the rights of gays to marry if they wish, I cant actively support them if they have abused and damaged the rights to free speech for everyone. Basically if their campaign for their own rights is based around destroying the rights of everyone else ( free speech ) I,m making the informed decision to opt out and leave them too it.

The effect of opting out is nuetral. It neither helps their cause nor hinders it.

I wonder how many other votes the SSM supporters have lost as a result of their bullying and attacks on those who have different views ?

Re: Postal vote

i didnt say anyone said the guy who punched the young guy was ok.

you made the point that the SSM activists doing wrong was the reason your opting out.

i just pointed out there was bad stuff on both sides, not just SSM supporters.

by destroying the display and punching the lad that man made himself a representative of the "NO" campaign.

if you dont want to be seen as a suporter of either side, you just quietly put your X on the voting slip, put it in the envolope provided and stick it in a post box. not do something that draws attention to the fact you are either on the NO side or YES side.

IMO

now i think its time for me to sit and wait for the result, my vote has been sent.
