I wonder how many other votes the SSM supporters have lost as a result of their bullying and attacks on those who have different views ?
Good question.
I have been amazed at how many young people I know have no intention of voting. They either don't care or they have had their hackles raised by the political correctness lobby.
Now before people bite my head off and say there has been wrong done by both sides, perhaps so. But their perception is the SSM side has been more vocal and in your face, with businesses pushing the agenda.
Plus there have been a lot of other (not directly related) things happening. debate on whether the words boy/girl can be used in schools, whether people have to be identified as a sex, toilet labelling and access, people being sacked for mentioning they were voting no on facebook and so on.
Or this is what several of the young people have told me. A couple said they would have voted yes but they're not happy with the tactics that say they have to vote yes, so they won't vote at all because they don't want to vote against it either.
Me, I'm voting. We can argue till the cows come home about which side has been more pushy but in reality what matters is how people perceive it & a lot of youngies are resenting what they see as railroading.
Right? Wrong? We'll soon know how the vote went. But for one reason or another, a lot just aren't bothering to vote at all.

I suspect one of the most damaging actions in the campaign has been the petition signed by 6000 SSM supporters to have Dr. Pansy Lai de-registered from the medical proffesion after she voiced her concerns against SSM in a television advertisment. The petition was removed from the hosting website fairly promptly as it breached their conduct code, but it was too late, the damage was already done. Who knows how many SSM supporters would have signed the petition, had it been left up a little longer.
I think that has been the low point of the campaign so far. It can not be excused as an isolated incident, carried out by any one individual or small militant group, it was an orchestrated campaign involving 6000 SSM supporters to restrict free speech. .

I cannot help but believe that this yes/no vote is a massive expensive smoke screen by the Government to divert from its failing achievements.
We have the NBN now on a third world or lower basis, a very downgraded NDIS, no/low wage growth (which effects consumer spending buying power) not in line with the CPI, very dodgy employment figures (reduction in FT but increase in PT jobs), more than tripling of the National debt since they came to power( apparently some other parties fault), a Electricity supply and distributing grid that is in turmoil and coming up with very dodgy solutions, chance of losing its majority because section 44, internal fighting and disruptions (not only Tony Abbott), attacks on unemployed and under privileged member of the community.
It would be wonderful for the government if the voting public were distracted and divided by the yes/no arguments instead of the above issues. Now it appears that the section 44 decisions may take away the Governments majority and will force an General Election in the very near future

While I agree that governments since the dawn of time have been using controversial policies to distract voters from current problems, it is probably a little bit trite to suggest that is the reason for the current vote on SSM.
Same sex marriage supporters have been highly, politically active for at least a decade. If you cast your mind back to Julia Gillards Labor prime ministership, you will remember that she and her Labor Government took a strong stance against SSM, publicly stating she would not support it during her leadership.
Politicians from both sides of government have been dithering about this for years. It has taken a Liberal government under the leadership of Malcolm Turnbull ( A well known supporter of SSM ) to finally bring the issue to a head.
If you think things look grim on the national stage, I would welcome you to come and visit my home state of S.A which has been under the " leadership" of a Labor government for more than a decade. We consistently have the highest unemployment rates in the country, the highest electricity costs IN THE WORLD Litterly, and we still cant keep the lights on. Our health system is in collapse with many occasions where over 50% of our ambulances are tied up with ramping. Ramping is where there is no room for emergency patients in emergency departments, ( due to Labor closing hospital beds ) so they are left in the car park in ambulances for up to 8 hours until a bed becomes available.
NAPLAN results show we consistently have the lowest numeracy and literacy rates in the country. Major businesses are regularly closing and South Road ( A major business precinct ) appears to have more vacant buildings with "for lease" signs than those with tenants. Our youngest and brightest are leaving the state in droves, migrants refuse to come here and our population growth is regularly the lowest in the country with demographics showing those that do stay here are getting older ( as our young people leave ). Our state is crippled with debt and constant government mis-management of public projects and corrupt sales of public assets ( google Gillman site ) is exacerbating the problems.
Trust me, if you think things look bad on the national stage under a Liberal government, you aint seen nothing until you you see how SA Labor has driven this state into the ground.

That's interesting, chameleon. Victoria isn't far behind, or won't be, with power issues. It's ridiculous, considering coal is one of our biggest exports. The impact on climate is surely going to be the same whichever country uses it.
from my point of view, Adelaide would be a great place to live-reasonable climate, not too overcrowded & without a lot of the violence we're seeing here in Vic from foreign gangs.
As for the SSM group-they seem to be texting everyone asking for support. I'm not against either side doing a pamphlet drop or ads to explain why they take their position but I wish they would leave off with phone calls etc & just leave people alone.

SA is not alone in the above mentioned. But, both SA and Vic who have the largest Power Problems have had their Electricity Industry privatised by Conservative Governments. NSW privatised its poles and wires to improve reliability and "reduce" the cost of electricity to the public. I don't know what the remaining states are doing, but to privatise the industry to improve and reduce the cost to the public apparently means to give that state Government a massive financial windfall to indirectly boost their re-election chances.
While many "critics" say that windfarms and solar generation would collapse if subsidies were removed they fail to mention that both the gas and coal industries are also heavily subsidised.

While economies around the world are fragile at the moment, the gross mis-management of public money, projects and assets in SA is criminal. AND its not me that saying this, it is the Supreme Court of Australia. ( See link ). Gillman is the largest single, undeveloped land parcel in Adelaide.
Our S.A Labor government is so incompetent and corrupt it makes " Sir" Jo Biejlke Peterson look like a saint. We desperately need an ICAC in this state to get to the bottom of some of the " mates rates" shonky deals that have been done here.

Both sides of the argument are guilty extreme of unfounded claims that begger belief. The latest I've "informed" are that children will not be able to call their parents mum or dad, they will be forced to cross dress, they will be barred from certain places/events if they identify as supporters of one side of the "debate" and so on.
If ever a Government wanted to stir up mistrust and hatred and divide the community this one has certainly hit the jackpot

If they are so inadequate/corrupt etc., why do they keep being re elected?

Very Simple.Because the alternative Party is unelectable because of its past record in government
