Random sample

Mitigation and response to detected coronavirus infections is thankfully proving effective , but tends to be reactionary , so what is the situation in the wild ?

Undetected infections ? self recovered ? undetected asymptotic cases ? Who can say at this time.

A random sample of residents in one area might prove interesting and validate to an improved extent current successes , also reduce any surprises.

A representative population group of say 1000 people residing in the same suburb of Sydney , but not having any coronavirus interventions therein as per the immediate area

Notification of intent to test on a relaxed Saturday afternoon , door to door knock, voluntary only , id and address confirmed, $100 thanks for co-operation per person including children , to assist with re-prioritising activities and maintain enthusiasm for the project.

Sort of like a clinical double blind test - a baseline

Any pertinent comments ?

What's the difference between an undetected infection? and an undetected asymptotic case ?

an undetected infection - could be somebody who thinks they just have a cold or mild case of flu

an undetected asymptotic case - is somebody who has no symptoms but is infectious

Where does asymptomatic come from?

The word asymptomatic is first recorded in the 1930s. It is composed of the Greek-based prefix a-, meaning “not” or “without,” and symptomatic. Take note of this a-, as we are going to see again in our article.

What does asymptotic mean?
For the word asymptotic, we need to move from health class to math class. Asymptotic is an adjective form of asymptote—which has nothing to do with medical symptoms.

An asymptote is “a straight line approached by a given curve as one of the variables in the equation of the curve approaches infinity.”

well maybe bucky i meant to write asymptomatic rather than asymptotic - I appreciate your so researched reply indicating my mistake with qualifications i must add , very impressive, is a shame so many people do not seem to be able to live without conflict , eh troll ?

Re-lodged to correct medical term and clarify subject intent

Any pertinent comments with qualifications as in facts not aspersions ?

Find out how effective mitigation has been by testing everyone within a city suburb on the same day as a representitive data set

previously infected but not now

infected and shedding but showing no symptoms

Methinks your wonderance is best answerable by consideration into the difference between a juxtaposition and an oxymoron.

Oxymoron relies on the juxtaposition of two words that have conflicting meanings that would normally negate each other. There have been many excellent example of this. Please consider my pontification.
