can kids write in plain english anymore?

I saw this on a facebook page.  Any 1 no of any1 wit french bulldogs for sale?

I find it really hard to read. I guess I must be getting grumpy in my old age, but that annoys the heck out of me.

I hate texting, so I do, I confess, use abbreviations ... or get my teenage son to text for me.

I used to text a lot, not now so much. I found often by the time you fiddle around with the abbrevations, you make just as many keystrokes as with the full word.

I understand using text talk when your messaging friends and stuff, but I think using it on some facebooks sites, like the buy sell give away or noticeboards type pages is lazy. It puts me off doing any dealings with them.

I feel the same way - especially on a for sale site/item -

If I see an item with only one photo and a one liner blurb (I am looking at camper trailers at the moment) I don't bother even going in.

I figure if they can't give a good (full English) description or take some good images (and lets face it, you get 10 or 12 images for free) then it is most likely going to be a dud ad and I don't waste my time on it.

It doesn't take that much more effort to spell the word than it does to figure out the abbreviation that will be widely recognised.

Text speak has it's place, and on a mobile you expect it, but as for anything else, please speak english. JMO (Just my opinion  LOL)

I thought about this myself and I think it's mainly people who use facebook on their phones. Some don't use a computer at all and have come to facebook purely by way of phone apps and so treat it as a messaging site.

I hate it, especially these days. It was different before smart phones etc when you had limited characters and key pads were so difficult to negotiate. There's really no need for it now.
My sons laugh at me because I even use punctuation in my texts lol

I've become a bit slack with capitals when texting but mostly I try and spell things correctly

I get that people are using their phones to post on sites and predictive text can be unpredictable but in some instances it really irks me.

In other places it makes me laugh, not mentioning any names cough*fiesta*cough
