so in 2014 microsoft say we wont be supporting Xp and Vista any more. no more updates!
so then Internet explorer starts saying i'm not secure as no more updates.
so i switch to Google Chrome, thats fine. then Google stops supporting Xp and Vista as Microsoft dont support Xp and Vista.
so i switch to Firefox, the famously INDEPENDANT not one of those BIG rip you off mobs.
Now i get a message Firefox will no longer support users on Xp and Vista!
I see a conspiracy here forcing me to buy a new Windows 10 computer. just so i can be SAFE online.
i'm waiting for my Anti-Virus people to warn me of the fact they will not support me either.
my computer runs just fine most of the time, i dont NEED a new computer really but feel i'm being FORCED into spending a lot of money for no good reason.
i dont have to buy a new car once the manufacturer's warranty runs out, can get it serviced, buy parts ect from other places.
imagine the outcry if after say 10 years regardless you were told your car couldnt drive on the roads as it was unsafe!
go buy a new car mate!

please re read my last posts, its not hard drive space that i lack its CPU processing speed, i know i can fit the windows 10 on my hard drive.
the CPU is the computers 'brain' big square thing in the middle of the mothboard with a big heatsink and fan to keep it cool.
i'm told my CPU isnt fast enough to run windows 10 thats why computers running anything older than windows 7 were deemed not suitable for free upgrade as the CPUs of that age were too slow. some will work some wont but if you buy the windows 10 software and install it and it doesnt run properly your stuffed as you have allready told microsoft its installed on a computer so you cant sell it, its useless.
it was going to cost a lot to buy even the home edition and to end up with it not working i wasnt going to spend the money. after all, there is/was nothing wrong with my computer and vista, its running fine. well it was until the message started apearing saying live update no longer works. so far its still ok, but i figure its just going to one day get a problem and stop working or are updates really not needed? i rekon they would do em if they werent needed.
i'm more concerned that programs like google chrome and firefox no longer are getting updates as that leaves the computer more vulnrable to attack than would otherwise be.
i allready have one old computer in my shed that when whatever version of windows that had stopped working was mothballed. so now after 10 years this ones headed for the 'of no use' to me box. ok maybe 10 years is a good time for a computer, all i know is if it wasnt for being told your no longer to get updates therefore your computer might get hacked i would carry on using my vista quite happily. but when you rely on the security of your computer as you use it for banking and paying bills and dealing with ebay buyers and sellers who can afford not to have everything running as best as it can.

my windows 7 laptop is allready upgraded to windows 10. i did wait until about a week before the free option ran out though. so many stories about people upgrading and then having problems. but although i dont use the laptop all that often it seems to be behaving ok.
yes, i really do love vista, ive become accustomed to her face.

My Windows 7 laptop up graded to windows 10 with out my permission so I went on to the Geeks site and got rid of it, could not find files and stuff I had saved.
I hate windows 10.
I will cry when this computer dies 😞

I am the same Lionrose, I didnt upgrade to Windows 10, mainly 'cause hubs has it and really doesnt like it at all. Plan is to buy new lappy early next yr, so I guess, when that happens, I'm going to be stuck with using it

unless you buy an apple computer your sorta stuck with windows and i know with every new version they think we all want something thats nothing like what we have been using for years.
NO MICROSOFT WE DONT!
i know how to ride a 2 wheel bike i dont need to have to learn to ride a unicycle. just build me a better 2 wheel bike if i must get a new one.
the few times i have used windows 10 i think its carp, give me the traditional windows format please.
what scares me most i know once ive mastered windows 10 they will bring out windows 11 and it'll be totally different again!

People are just scared of change. I know I was.
After grumbling about having to use Win10, I like it a whole lot better than any
other Microsoft Windows.

This may have no bearing whatsoever on this conversation but I think there's a free prog called Classic Shell which one can use to make Win 10 behave and look like Win 7.
I still use Win 7 and will until this computer dies.
