I like my tefal pans, and the one little saucepan I have is great for gravy. I don't know how long they would last though.
(sorry for the dress change, I had to check some stuff I was watching in the auctions)

I was walking on farm land in Twead Heads.
I have one of those expensive stone ware pans, it has changed colour and I am not that impressed with it, no good for frying eggs.
I got a pancake pan from Aldi for my fried eggs. It's perfect. Low sides and non stick so they're easy to get out and only need the tiniest bit of oil or butter.

I think you have to oil the cast iron pots to prevent rust.
My favourite must be Bistro Brand. It has bistro on the pot handle anyway. It is heavy and has no rolled or pressed edges.
I have a SS handled pan which doesn't get a hot handle but the pot has a black handle which is still good after 20 years.
It was purchased at a specialty kitchen and catering shop for about $80 all those years ago.

I took note tonight and I need to ammend what I said earlier.
The handles on my baccarat don't get overly hot, but the lids do.
I didn't burn anything tonight (hallelujah) so I think the ceramic cooktop had a bit to do with the problems I was having. I have a gas stove now, and it's so much better, you can look at the flame and see how hot it is.
EDIT: just sticking the brand name in there for those that didn't see earlier posts

I have been using my Essteele for 48 years now. I bought new handles for them ages ago. I am not sure where you would buy the handles these days.

I just unpacked my new saucepan set. I looked in a kitchen shop, and they had Scanpan, Esteele and others, Esteele were impressive, but so was the price, even though everything was on sale. DJ missed out because they didn't open until 9.30. Half the day is over by then.
I went to Harris Scarfe, and it seemed that everything in the store was half price. They had lots of brands, all on sale. So I bought a 5 piece set consisting of 3 saucepans, one with a steamer, and a 5 litre casserole/stock pot (for my soups). They are stainless steel and copper based. They look good so I hope they are.
Thanks to everybody for your advice.

I'm after a good deep frying pan with lid. I'm sick of stuff jumping out of the pan when I'm stirring. I'm off tomorrow to see if I can find one I like.
My saucepans we bought about 33 years ago when we were on holiday not long after we got married. Not the usual trinket one comes back from a romantic holiday with lol. They are still going strong although some of the handles are getting a bit crusty.
I found a good one of those at Big W or K Mart for about $25. It is non-stick, heavy base, with a glass lid. Super size and very deep. But there are more expensive ones everywhere. I'm sure you will find one.

I looked at stove tops today, the guy told me if I get an induction one, I need magnetic saucepans.
I am all well and truly over shopping for appliances.............................. but I am buying a new ss range hood and a ceramic hot plate, NOT touch controlled.
