We have just picked up some US currency for our trip. How do people who are visually impared manage over there? All the notes are the same size, how do they tell them apart?

I think they go by the president on the note?? From watching American movies/TV. LOL.
Have you ever seen an American person with their first fistful of Aussie dollar?? I met some young men, travelling Aus from the US, they couldnt believe our brightly coloured notes, thought someone was having a lend of them, was highly amusing.

I remember when they first came out (yes I am old :-p) we referred to them as jam tin labels LOL
Didnt take long to get used to them,.

I have been told by some American friends, that carers of vision impaired people fold their notes for them, each denomination in a different way....
How they count their change is beyond me, though... I guess they have to trust that they won't be conned.

Hi B3!:-)
They carry enough bills to only need singles as change.
Also special wallets to keep them organized, and they can use debit cards.
There are bill reader also. I heard new bills will have raised numbers.

Hi Jimmeh! 😄
Bill readers? sounds interesting!
I know when we first visited the USA about 11 years ago, they were fascinated with our notes- we ended up leaving almost a full set with the friends we stayed with. The man of the house ran a second hand business and mounted them in a frame behind his cash register, and was asked to sell them many, many times... at one stage we joked that we could set up a lucrative business selling off Aussie currency in frames - and this was back when the US dollar was worth about 2 of ours! LOL

Looking at other countries money looks fake. Takes getting used to.
Here's a look at the new $100 bill...

You will have to get used to getting a handful of $1 bills in change from a purchase, when you are over there, Lurker.. oh well, that means you always have plenty of $1 bills to give in tips....
Then there is all those coins to get used to, including 1c ones....

I had terrible trouble when we were over there. And yeah you collect so many small denominations money and can't count it out quickly when you go to spend it.
