Not a nice way to describe it imo

There are people of all ages, who dont have  long life expectancy and are in extreme pain 😞 If this is the path they choose, then it ( hopefully ) will be very carefully monitored so they can die with dignity

Euthanasia is about easing the pain and suffering some people of all ages do not want to 'live' with any longer. I find it ironic that we can carry it out with our pets, who cannot communicate that they want to die. And we do it because of love and compassion. Yet we seem to have difficulty when a person makes the choice in situations where there is no chance of the pain and suffering ending. Surely love and compassion applies to them too?

I like a good political discussion as much as anyone, but cant you and your little fan club refrain from turning every, single thread into an I luv Labor, I hate Liberals moan session ?

Spoiler
They won, your side lost ..... get over it !

The thread topic is assisted dying. Surly you can show a modicum of respect for those who take the time to start the thread and to others who contribute on a sensitive subject that could be close to home for some !`

Some topics can be treated with a degree of levity.....I don't think this is one of them.

I would prefer to see posters here show some restraint instead of waiting for the Moderators to intervene.

My experience with cats has been when they are very very ill and there's no hope (kidney failure, cancer etc) they tend to stop eating.  They may want to go off by themselves or stay very close to their owners...but they won't eat.

Humans who are very ill also often stop eating, but medicine and hospitals in their wisdom feed them through tubes. We have become very good at keeping people alive, but often, not really living. Many of the people who would consider euthanasia may well have passed away naturally months before, had modern medical practices not been so efficient at keeping them alive.
