WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Countess, I have to say you are a marvel at the words you know.

I am often impressed by the eliminators & choices you come up with.

I had to smile at this:

It was down to neume, mneme, endue, undue, venue. I thought the first two unlikely. It seemed most probable to be between endue and venue. I picked the wrong word.

Not only were the first two unlikely, I can promise you I would never even have thought of them, I would have been in blissful ignorance. The only 2 I would have liked out of that lot were undue and venue.

I've put the whole thing in a spoiler as otherwise I will ruin the game for you if you have not done it.
As you can see, things did not start with promise, but I always tell myself in those sorts of circumstances that shout is sure to turn up something, & so it did.
No skill required for turn 3.

This wasn't too bad in that one word led to the next, although I was lucky not to fall into a trap with #7

Spoiler
5 cl.jpgAfter my first 2 turns, I wondered if #7 might be month, but it could also have been north, so luckily, I left it. I went for what looked to be a certainty-guise.
I was also, right at the end, fancying enter for #1 till fortunately I looked up and realised no E in spot 4.

My most pleasing moment was solving aback as I didn't have a lot to go on but couldn't see anything else it might be. Not to say there definitely weren't any other choices, just i couldn't think of any.

5 ex.jpgThis wasn't too bad. #8 was easy, it's one of their staples for a no vowel word.
#2, I thought meaty or teary but meaty is a run away favourite of theirs, so no contest.
#3, I thought, squad (the obvious one) or squab. It is the extreme, but all the same, yesterday I think it was, one answer was squib and not squid so I thought this time they may give the D ending a run.
You can never tell with them, but my guess paid off today.

It was lucky I got caught up in solving a few that looked straight forward as initially I had wondered if #7 might be lease but by the 4th turn, I could see that was out of the running.

My guess was so close to the answer… and it was quite a good eliminator anyway.

6 cl.jpgThis was straightforward enough in that one word led to the next, though at first, I looked at #2 and thought, oh no, reach, beach, peach etc so that surprised me later on.

Spoiler
6 ex.jpgI feel this had a lot of traps.
After my first 2 turns, I could not see anything that looked 100% safe. At that early stage, I was thinking maybe super for #6 and prone for #7, and maybe minor or bingo for #1, so decided to go with another eliminator, pricy.

The surprises for me today were dingo (such an Australian word, though to be fair, I think they have used it before) and promo. Until I saw it had O at the end, I was going to go with proof.
