WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education ๐Ÿคฃ

27 ex.jpgThis was very annoying, right from the start.
#2, chuck or chuff. I fancied chuck but.. too risky.
#7 bushy or mushy or pushy. Mushy was my least favourite of those.
#4 I thought bumpy or dumpy and I liked bumpy, but straight after that bombed out, my eyes alighted on the keyboard J (which is one of the few still in pristine order) and I thought.. of course. They love J when they can!
In the end I just had to go with one or the other for #2.

There were roughly 60 possible words after my starter. Ruling out two Es was a priority, although Iโ€™d have liked to rule I and U in or out as well. Placement of the T, presence or absence of Sโ€ฆ and of the remaining consonants, L or Mโ€ฆ

After considerable thought and no gut feeling, I decided on METES.

Fiend was obvious after the eliminator. The D from fiend gave me olden. 1R now narrowed down but could still have been glare or blare; had to guess.

The rest was obvious. Tramp gave me the P and M for 3R (prism) and the P for 2P (phony). 2R now couldnโ€™t be anything but quote, and the U from quote gave me rumor, even though itโ€™s the US spelling.

Ideally, I would have liked an eliminator with PFCG combo but I couldn't come up with much so just went with pricy.

#1 riper/viper/wiper maybe. Or biker, though I thought that unlikely.
#6 the usual suspects-shape, shade, shave, shame etc
#7 pivot or vomit
#5 merge or verge

I actually wondered if #5 and #6 might be connected in that both might have M or both might have V.

My eliminator was vampy. It didn't give a lot but enough to solve the rest.

The V from verge and the M from dogma completed all that I needed for 4L (vomit). By now, it was clear that the final word must have the _EIGH pattern; it could only be weigh.

3R was obvious after the eliminator. The S (and final O from eliminator) gave me 2L (pesto). In turn, that put the E in 2nd position for 2R, so that the highly likely pattern _ECOR gave me decor.

I was looking at 4R, which was _IRTH (so โ€ฆ birth or mirth). At the same time, just next to it was 4L, obviously _A_ER or A__ER. It occurred to me that it be just like Octordle to have 4L be amber as a sort of taunt - โ€œHere are both of the possible letters for 4R!โ€, and immediately I felt certain that it was indeed amber. Gut instinct, luck! It was. And thus was revealed mirth.

Amber also gave me 3L (amity). Then 1L - L(A)N_Y - was obviously lanky. That left 1R - _(H)I__ (bracketed H presumed position as it couldnโ€™t be on the final position). Only possible first letter would be W, and from the scarce pickings of the unplayed letters, the gin  add l two letters just had to be double F for whiff.
