WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

28 cl.pngAfter turn 3 I was a bit stuck.
#1 riper/viper/wiper maybe. Or biker, though I thought that unlikely.
#6 the usual suspects-shape, shade, shave, shame etc
#7 pivot or vomit
#5 merge or verge

I actually wondered if #5 and #6 might be connected in that both might have M or both might have V.

My eliminator was vampy. It didn't give a lot but enough to solve the rest.

That was actually an inspired second eliminator.

I got stuck half way through.

Spoiler
29 cl.pngThings started off okay and in hindsight, I should have been able to work out #6 digit without the eliminator.
I probably should have been able to guess #1 too, but every word I could think of ended in t or else had e in 4th spot.
At the time I was hung up on #5, built or guilt and thought #4 might be ready.
All in all, clueless, so used fudgy and at last, some enlightenment.

This has me hopping mad as it should have been better. Not a lot better, maybe a 51.

I had to really concentrate on this one, which is why I am so annoyed to have lost focus on the very last word.

Spoiler
29 ex.pngStarted off okay with a likely answer on turn 2. But soon after that, most of the words seemed to have at least a couple of possible answers.
I took a risk on #1 as it could have been scuba but I think we saw that recently. We have seen saucy too but I thought it might be too soon to reuse scuba.

But the others were kayak/karma, foist/moist/joist (which I thought might be it as they seem to like J), faint/paint, feign/deign.
I was worried I might need an eliminator but gradually, one word led to the next.

And at last I was on the final word and I gave a sigh of satisfaction. Aha, I thought, the F has now been out and isn't in it, it must be deign, it can't be feign. And typed in feign!🙄
I am going to have to be careful what I think of as I knew the answer but my fingers seem to do my last thought.

Straightaway I had to guess my first word. That doesn’t set things up comfortably… and it was even worse when I had another 50/50 guess after that. This explains why I felt off-balance, I suppose. This Octordle was heavily reliant on the letter F… At least my guess of faint stopped me from considering joist or hoist for 2R.

Before I gingerly made my way to 2R, though, I solved 4L. F was ruled out so I knew it was deign. Then 2R (foist)… and by now 1L was clear (saucy).

Was 4R shiny or spiny? I knew at least it wasn’t spiky, thanks to liken. I paused, and looked at 3R. Aha. It must be ethic, which ruled out the H for 4R. Spiny it was - and that just left 1R… which could only be karma.
