WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

When I looked back over it, it isn't that I made any silly mistakes (which I can tend to do if I rush in.) I think it is more that I tried to work with what I had after turn 1.

I may have been better to play my second eliminator. It takes an extra turn but narrows it down a bit more.

Oh, this went well. My starter (oft used) was 2R’s answer.

Admittedly I had to use an eliminator for row 2, but I could guess 1L at row 3. (It was a 50/50; one other word was possible - or should I say one other likely word - but I was right.)

Based on that, 2L fell into my hand like a ripe plum.

3R by this time was obviously one of two words (depending on the starting letter). Again I had to make a 50/50 choice and again I guessed correctly.

1R - the yellow tile in 4th place must go on the end as that would fit if an unused letter went into 4th place, and yellow tile from 3rd place must go into 2nd place because the only way for this to work was if a particular letter (still unplayed) went into first place. Solved.

I now knew what 3L must be.

4R must have a particular unplayed letter as its last letter, and there was really only one possibility for the first letter. Solved.

And that meant that an unplayed letter would do double duty for 4L. Solved.

And done.

Despite it taking 6 goes, you still got it in the end Springy! It's certainly not a fail.

I had a  busy day yesterday so didn't manage to get on.

I went to optometrists as I recently had an eye examination. Prescription hasn't changed much at all so don't need to replace glasses so figured I could maybe get a few disposable contact lenses for special occasions. Picked up yesterday, all fine (though not as clear as glasses). I used to have contacts for years but not lately. Had terrrible trouble getting the left one out last night, it's sort of turned me off them I think.

Anyway, nothing startling with the wordle today either. I think it is a word I have seen on other puzzles.
