Labor candidate Yvette D'Ath has won the by-election for the Queensland seat of Redcliffe, ABC election analyst Antony Green says.

With more than 44 per cent of ballots counted, Ms D'Ath is ahead of the LNP's Kerri-Anne Dooley.

Antony Green: "21:05 - There's not a lot of commentary that can be added. A simple trawl down the list of booth by booth figures on the results page shows ho comprehensive a victory it has been. The biggest two-party preferred swing in more than two decades."

I'm expecting the LNP to claim this as a victory, like they did last time when they lost

Then they'll blame labor ๐Ÿ˜„

Can someone explain the 16% swing?

It would be interesting to hear why the voters chose to change their votes.

Hmmm & a 16.4% swing to Labor with 56% percent counted.

Maybe it's not a crystal clear mandate for Tony after all ๐Ÿ™‚

i was looking at it in a narrower context i guess, i think yvette is a good candidate and was a good federal member. although polling shows the premier would lose Ashgrove. thats only about 40 more to win back Smiley LOL

while I was wondering if all LNPers carry a tool book about with them so they can remember what to say - like

* If you say "Union" it must be followed swiftly by the word "bully" or "bullying"

* All protesters are "inappropriate"

The only thing Newman and the LNP galahs know about blue collar workers is how to steal money out of their pay packets.
