Like the author of the article, I hate the word 'panties'. I always thought it was an americanism. Perhaps not.

Lol we did indeed call them grundies because at the time we were living on the Gold Coast back in the 80s and the kids used to love going to Grundy's Arcade in Surfers. The tem grundies orginated back then, for us.

funny all the different meanings for grundies.
We started calling them grundies for the ugly ones we hate, granny undies=grundies or grungy undies=grundies

Mostly undies. Sometimes it's knickers if it is a discussion between DD and I.
My 2yo nephew calls them jocks. I call them undies and he corrects me, they're his jocks.
