Well I have just been shopping and all the Colgate toothpaste that I looked at comes from Thailand.
It would be great if others posted examples of products and where they come from as I am sure there are plenty of surprises out there.
I know I have plenty more to add

Because of the free trade agreement between China and NZ

Ship stuff to NZ, then on ship it to Aus so it doesn't incur tariffs and duty.
If it was shipped China to Aus, it incurs duty.
So, there is NO manufacturing in New Zealand?

Some.
But why make stuff in NZ if it can be made in China ?
I eat some Kiwi stuff, mainly Jams, Lemon Curd as GF is a kiwi
and it is top stuff. Very kiwi specific food.

there is a Chinese Processing Plant in the south island
anything going through there is labelled made in New Zealand
how do you account for the enornous amount of products in Australia from New Zealand
New Zealand is not that big an area to sustain that quantity of primary produce
when China first had an incling that people from Australia were loath to eat their produce they set this up as a deceptive measure
to dump their inferior produce on us
