list items and then not answer questions from prospective buyers?
NB This is not a selling question - more a matter of sanity - MINE.

Some people do not sit with their computer all day & night. Some people do not sell much and do not know to look for messages. And they are of-course, the same people who do not put proper description in the listing.

I wonder the very same thing, rabbit.
I can't tell you how many times I've ask for a measurement on a garment or asked for clarification on a color, etc.....with absolutely no reply. I know not to ask these questions shortly before the end of an auction and usually ask them a day or two before the end of the auction.
No reply....nada....and then I watched the auction end without a single bid. What are these Sellers thinking? Are they really above answering questions?
Personally, when I sold on eBay I listed all the measurements.....all of them.....described everything in detail, left no room for questions. But, now a days they just say the very minimal in the description and then say contact them if you have any questions. Guess what? I've got better things to do. If you want to sell your item put all that info in the description and if you do not, don't wonder why there are no bids.

I have been looking for a car to do up. I have asked questions 5 or 6 days before the listing ends - then asked again 2 days later - no response whatsoever. I will not bid on an item if they can't be bothered to check for messages. I got so frustrated the other day - I watched an auction end - I would have paid much more than the final price - I wrote the seller a message saying 'Too busy to answer my questions? I hope whatever you were doing was very important because it has lost you at least $1,500."
I don't know why they bother listing a car to sell (or anything else) - and not check it.
This other one I am watching - she has listed it 4 times - no bids - I sent a message and asked her if I could come down to look - no answer - so, guess what? I won't bid. She explicitly says in the auction - ask questions before you bid and then can't be bothered to check / answer questions.
It's not a matter of sitting on the computer all day - a 5 minute check each evening would suffice wouldn't it?
I was beginning to think my messages were not getting through, but I asked a question of a dealer - and got an answer within an hour - even though it was Sunday.

I just had another look at this car - it has 11 watchers - I wonder if they have all asked questions and are waiting patiently for a response?

Ive had this happen too Rabbit, its so frustrating...but I figure that if they cant be bothered doing business, theyd be a p i t a to give money to. Imagine trying to organise going to get the car from them?
Is there any other way of contacting them? Sometimes I have found that if I ask what their Buy-It-Now price is, and put my other Q in the same message, I get a response cause they figure Im going to Buy-it-Now- which I might, but they also answer the other Q too..
Hang in there- sometimes it takes time for the right seller with the right thing at the right price to pop up...

I think she must be reading this thread - she has just answered my second message. So, I am off to have a look.

Ebay messages dont always work very well, although I dont think I've had as many issues recently as I did few years back. Sometimes the message doesnt even make it through to the seller. I remember in one case a message didnt come by email and didnt appear in my messages inbox but I could se there was one needing to be answered if I looked at the actual listing.
I have a note on my listings to send the question again if they dont get a reply within 24 hours.

It's even more frustrating when the seller actually says in the listing that they will answer any questions....and then they don't. Grrrr.
Sometimes there's no info on the item beyond a photo (and sometimes that's fuzzy) but when you ask for more details....nothing. Grrrr.
Sometimes a seller lists more than one posting method (ie AP or courier) but if you contact them to find out which method will be used for your area you get no reply. Grrrr.
My conclusion: Some sellers don't actually want to sell anything. *shrugs*

Me too except that at least 4 times when I've asked for measurements I've had replies like this ..
"Sorry don't have a tape measure but it fits me and I'm small"
Duhhhh.
