Firstly, it is quite warm in WA at the moment :-p, everyone who knows me, knows how much I love the warm weather.
Catching up with friends yesterday, some were complaining bitterly about the heat. One turned to me and, largely in jest, told me to "stop grinning like that", another commented that I "need more meat on my bones, then I would be normal."
Im fairly certain this question has been asked before, but Im going to ask it again.
Why is it acceptable for larger people to point out that I "need more meat on my bones"?? It is not OK for me to tell them they need to lose some, certainly without offending them. And why am I expected to be flattered by such comments??

I think people who like the heat are crazy (as in looney). I do prefer cold weather but not freezing cold.
Hot weather plays havoc with my blood sugar levels

why is it odd?
just because something is said in jest does not mean it doesn't upset the person it was said to.

Someone explain to me the logic that skinny people cope with heat better???
I figured fat people have more skin therefore more surface area for evaporation for cooling?:|
I can't stand the heat.
built in insulation - just like a whale....

I would love to have to run around in the shower to get wet - my problem is the build up of water coz I am blocking the drain :_|

it would also be nice to have a towel that goes all the way around that doesn't cost a fortune

super size me towels ........now that would be luxury

To me, it works both ways. Or at least it should

Just for Jo who appears to have lost the ability to read or comprehend (a bit of an epidemic on the board today), the comment by the first person was in a joking manner, the other person was not.
the question was, why is a thin persons body type a free for all as far as personal comments go, but not a larger person. Maybe I'm too polite.

I don't know lis. I have found that when I talk about myself in a self deprecating manner, eg; "wide load coming through", people get quite annoyed with me even upset and tell me not to say that.
So it seems we can pick on normal/thin sized people but none of us are allowed to say anything about large people
