cat curfew

i cant wait until this is Australia wide and people have to keep their cats on their own property. it forces responsibility for your own pets.
cats kill so much wildlife, and they kill for fun not for food. it might stop half the dogs barking all night. and the owner can clean up their toileting rather then it be in next doors garden. and those endless litters bred because of owners laziness would be reduced immensly
i wonder how many people will cut the amount of cats they keep once they have to live with them only in their own yards and houses.

Re: cat curfew

I think it is a great idea. My three cats are indoor cats and are only outside if wearing a harness. There is no valid reason to allow cats to roam freely and to not desex them is irresponsible.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Re: cat curfew

i would love to see compulsory desexing in both cats and dogs unless you are either a registered breeder or some sort of license to breed with all new pets being microchipped, vaccinated and desexed (unless the new owners have a breed permit)
something drastic has to happen to cut the over whelming amount of animals in shelters and being PTS
it all leads back to irresponsible owners though

Re: cat curfew

There'll always be irresponsible pet owners but I do agree with what you say. It is also important that male cats are desexed and not just the females. Two of my cats came from a breeder who, as per breeder requirements, had them desexed before being rehomed. One of them is a retired queen. My older cat came from a breeder who was supposed to provide a desexing voucher but never did, so I had that cat desexed as soon as I realised that the voucher was not forthcoming.

Re: cat curfew

I'm shocked at the number of people I pass when I walk in the early hours of the morning with their dogs doing their toilet run,  by the looks of it they only pick up the mess when there are people about.

Re: cat curfew

That's pretty digusting, Freddie. My dogs were trained not to leave any deposits whilst out walking but a plastic bag was always carried just in case.

I think its a great idea too.

So many irresponbile cat owners.
