Cheap packaging

Where do you guys get your packaging/boxes from? If you are selling items from your home and you don't want to buy packaging until the item sells where can you get boxes quickly and packing material like bubble wrap/paper?

Cheap packaging

I use new bubblewrap and standard AP satchels/boxes.

When we need a box (which isn't that often as most of our items go as letters), we use a wine box from the local bottle shop, which we cut down to size.

Obviously this wouldn't be an option for larger items, but works well for us.

We also find that the cardboard is good for using as stiffening in our larger envelopes.

We don't use a lot of bubble wrap, but we do have a new roll on hand at all times.

We also find old phone book pages useful for filling the spaces in our boxes.

Personally I do not list anything under my selling ID unless I have the appropriate packing material here already

The Reject Shop used to have excellent boxes a couple of years back but I am finding my local one only has really thin cardboard ones now

I get most of my boxes from cardboard bins and bubblewrap from businesss like spotlight that through huge amounts of this stuff which ends up in the skip bins. As I go through 30-40 boxes per week this pays for a few holidays per year so well worth the effort.

I am lucky in that I can get boxes and packaging material from work. The only time I have paid for anything was when Bunnings had a stack of small bubblewrap rolls on the specials table for 10c a roll.

Ask around at businesses around town. You might be surprised how many would be willing to part with boxes and packaging that they don't want or need.

That's so great. Do you go to their store and they just give you spare boxes?

I went to Dan Murphys yesterday. Out the front was a pallet with ice, that was wrapped in an insane amount of bubble wrap, with the silver insulation. I went all like squeeee! Mr Tippy said "walk away from the pallet or I'll pound you". I had no choice but to walk away. You would be surprised where you can find free packaging.
