I sold an item at auction and now the buyer is saying they made a mistake, what?

I placed an item for auction, it was bought, now the buyer says they made a mistake. They then ask for receipts of value, says they dont like my tonality when I asked if they are going to pay or not, then say can deliver it when the advert clearly stated collection by a due date. They then are self righteous about eBay being fun and they dont do business that is tricky, liking smooth transactions.

What? They made it tricky by bidding at auction and then withdrawing at committment pay time. What recourse does the seller have? This has happened twice now.

I only sell when I need hence not a huge eBay user, is this now the norm?

eBay does get a few newbies thinking they are not committed when bidding.

4 days after sale date to the minute open an unpaid item case. Then close it 4 days later.

Buyer gets a strike, you get your fees back and feedback can't be left.

While waiting to close the case you could message any underbidders and explain winner is not collecting so if they would be interested in the item at their highest bid.

Otherwise relist the item and make sure to add the non payer to your BBL so they can't bid again.
