Seller collected item in person and is now claiming it is faulty.

Buyer purchased an item and paid via paypal. They collected in person then that night sent an email claiming it doesnt work and thgey "may take it further". What options do i have to dispute this and protect myself?

There's no Money Back Guarantee for items listed as pick up, which were picked up by the buyer who subsequently claims that it's not as described.
