What are they thinking just a major rip off I would say .
Posting out today 17 Aust Post satchels only to learn we no longer get a lodgement reciept only get the little sticker on the satchel so how the heck are we to know what tracking number belongs to what stupid, said this to the girl behind the desk was informed they scan it then it goes into the system .
Thats well and good for them .
I for one do not trust there scanning system I wrote few months back had posted a reg insured item it never arrived and it never showed up on the website .I did get my money back because I did have proof.,but even then it took 6 weeks .
Aust Post needs to wake up .
If we have something go missing we have to prove it .
Its about time Aust Post workers have to have police checks yes I am serious they handle 100s of $ worth of goods a day .
Where is our protection from them seems to be getting less and less .

Hi *crikey*mate & chezzy,
I can certainly understand where you are coming from. Iโm really sorry for the disappointment that removal of our discretionary cover has caused.
The new product set which was introduced on 8 April has been introduced with a high consideration on customer feedback. Our aim is making it simpler for our customers to send parcels within Australia. It has designed to offer our customers greater flexibility and choice over their parcel delivery service.
Customers can now follow a simple 3-step process for sending parcels; including:
1. Choose your speed (Same Day, Next Day or Regular)
2. Select your size
3. Add your features (eg Extra Cover for Loss and Damage, Signature on Delivery, Track Advice)
The reason we are offering these features are so that our customers have the option to select the postage and service that will meet their requirements for the specific parcel they are sending.
Kind regards,
Mel
Australia Post
Generally speaking, my only requirement is that my letter/parcel, once payed for and accepted by AP is delivered to the addressee in a similar condition to that which I entrusted it to them and within a reasonable time frame.
That sounds about as simple as it gets for me.
The question is whether the service offered with Standard Postage meets this requirement.
If not, what is the point of offering that service?
Why not just rip the stitches and 'fess up and admit that the real cost of delivering your letter/package in a timely manner to the addressee, in the condition it was entrusted it to AP is this really large amount $xxxxx, instead of disguising it through a series of additional extras.
That's about what it amounts to, isn't it?
Fair enough, charge extra for a speed faster than that which is reasonable, but to charge extra for a guarantee that it will be delivered to the addressee in a safe manner in the condition sent just seems a bit deceptive to me.

I was just looking through some postal receipts and some have been processed correctly and some not. For those that haven't I've added the second tracking number into eBay just so I have a record of it. I think the main problem is the PO system has an option for C&S but the actual labels that get attached to the parcels say Parcel Post, not C&S. It's no wonder the PO staff get confused.

Punch, the parcels I sent today were all over 500g. I'll have to watch for the Express option the next time I have smaller parcels.

The click and send express option for 500g parcels only appears when you are processing as a regular parcel post parcel, and are not using the promotion code for ebay satchel.

Totally weird... but not unusual for click and send site.
Processed and sent one under 500g Monday with no bother on the site....
oh except for the whole DEFUNCT tracking number FIASCO ....
.... and having to put a new tracking number on parcel over previous one and change it on ebay and complete extra lodgement form with addressee details for PO stamping as I have no confidence in Paypals believing that one parcel has been allocated two different tracking numbers at Australia Posts direction - with the second being different from printed label.
Confusing ?? absobludylutely
Vent, vent, vent..... mutter......whinge ....

If there is no discretionary $50 cover on standard or unregistered parcels, why do AP call their loss protection 'extracover'? Extra to what? Misleading much? ๐

Mel stated
'Our postage costs definitely cover delivery service from point A to point B'
Then anybody living in apartment buildings should ask for their postage money back. In my eyes point B is MY address not the local post office. I cannot get anything delivered Express unless I want to camp out by the letterbox for the day to catch the Parcel postie placing her already written out cards in our letterbox. We are home when she delivers the card but at work when we can pick up our parcel after 4pm.
Sorry Mel but that is not a delivery service.

dear Australia post - love the "high customer consideration" spiel. yes as a customer I want to pay more for your services. not.
what was so wrong with the registered post the way it was. all the info was there when needed. but now..........................

Hi crikey*mate,
Our postage costs definitely cover delivery service from point A to point B. Our new product set introduced on 8 April also includes complimentary tracking for all parcels lodged over the counter for our customers.
Kind Regards,
Mel
Is that delivery service for Standard Postage or only Standard Postage with SOD and Insurance?
What happens when either of these two services are not provided with Standard Post?
If that is the service offered for Standard Post, then with the exception of speed of delivery, why the need for "optional extras"?
