What is the best way to send boxsets by Australian post?
I'd say there's not quite enough detail to your question for people to know what would be the most relevant info, aside from what has already been provided. ๐
Does best = the most protection to guard against damage in transit, and so forth, or does it = cheapest?
For the best of both worlds, this is what I did with some DVD box sets I had a while ago...
I wrapped the boxes in foam wrap, it's sturdy, cushioning, and doesn't pop so doesn't lose its effectiveness. Then I wrapped in bubble wrap. If sending more than one box set in the same package, the individual boxes were wrapped in foam, then they were arranged together and wrapped as a package in bubble wrap. Then I cut cardboard to size and enclosed the boxes in the cardboard and taped the sides up for a custom fit, makeshift box. Then I would put them in satchels (C&S flat rate), filling the void with foam peanuts or other cushioning material.
That was before flat rate boxes, which might be a better option depending on size and weight.

My advice was pertinent. D*g said so, so it must be true.
Bit hard to give specifics when the question is very non-so.
