How long do you accept returns up to?

I had a buyer want to return an item as it had a mark on it that I wasn't aware of (picked it up from dry cleaners and popped straight into postpack).  I agreed to refund item plus postage however that was 2 weeks ago and the item still hasn't been returned. The buyer was apparently busy and hadnt had time was going to drop it off at my home, couldn't make that so then over a week ago told me they would post it.  How much longer do I allow them to return the item?

They can still insist on a refund, up to 45 days after purchase with PayPal. 😞

It stuffs you around I know. Can you email them and give them a firm date that you will no longer accept a return. It might prompt them into action. You could say that if the item is not returned within 7 days, a refund will no longer be available. That might bring the situation to a head.

After this long, it sounds like they have accepted the items condition. But that's just my opinion.:-)

Re: How long do you accept returns up to?

I would have asked for a photo of the mark and if they sent one I would have offered them the choice of a partial refund and keep it or, if I thought I could re sell it for enough to cover the expenses of postage both ways, tell them I would send them a ready labelled and paid for C&S ebay satchel to return it in. If they didn't want a partial refund and it wasn't worth paying the $6.20 to get it back I would just refund them and tell them to keep it.

As your buyer has not responded the ball is in their court so just wait and see how they proceed, they may be happy to keep it and just wanted to make sure that you would do the right thing lol.

Re: How long do you accept returns up to?

I had the same scenario. Customer said that I put size 10 in my listing where it was size 12 in the tag. I accept my mistake as I post alot of item that I didn't able to change the details in my template.

I advised the customer to send the dress within 7 days or contact me if she can't send it straight away. Otherwise, she can drop to my place as she live close by.

She didn't send the item back. After 28 days, I received an email asking me if its too late to return the item. This was during melbourne cup time..

I told her that my policy was within 7 days and that I did advised her to return it asap and she didn't reply to my email. I assumed that the item had been used. I told her that I can't refund as my policy stated 7 days and that I had been waiting for the return.

I had no reply from her since then and she didn't do any dispute.

Re: How long do you accept returns up to?

I am hoping that she hasn't worn the dress only to then return it? that is my concern however I have asked to leave the dry cleaning tags on as I will speak to them over the marks.  However she has now just emailed me asking why I haven't refunded her the money, it's because I haven't recd the dress, hopefully she can track it at her end.   Is anyone finding Aust Post slow due to christmas?

Re: How long do you accept returns up to?

That is way too long and if they open a dispute via paypal then make sure you state in there ALL that has happened and your concern it may have been worn now.

I would not contact the seller again and let them make the next move.
