Hi everyone. Before I went to send a package to France, I checked and apparently there's no tracking available. Well, I went down there anyway and sent a Registered Post package to France, asked about tracking, and they said to quote the number just below the barcode. So, I went back and apparently the item's not trackable.
Is there any way to track this package? Thanks for any help.

I'm such an idiot. I thought sending it Registered would give peace of mind that they've received it (and to avoid any fraud) but now it seems I forgot to select Delivery Conformation and have no word on knowing if they've received it or not... also it's not trackable. Whereas Express seems to do the same thing as Registered but IS trackable... always thought Registered was the most secure but now I don't believe it is... oh well...

I'm semi-confident that it will arrive... but not happy with myself for not trusting the Aus Post site and believing the people at the Post Office that it was trackable... live and learn...

My understanding of the French Postal System is that once a parcel arrives in France they assign it a new number which therefore makes the parcel untrackable with the number issued by Australia Post.
This makes it very difficult when sending to France.

Thanks guys and good to know, jen. My handwriting is pretty poor, so that's my main concern about the item not arriving but it should be alright. Like with most things, it pays to do some homework beforehand... ๐

Hi Soul,
I think there seems to be some confusion about the "tracking" of International Registered items. While there is no online tracking, records are kept at each point throughout delivery so we (Aus Post) can track it using our internal tracking system.
While it is true that you can pay for and request confirmation of delivery of domestic registered items after-the-fact, Confirmation of Delivery must be purchased before posting for international items and cannot be added on to the service after postage.
If you have the article number handy I'd be happy to update you, otherwise you can track the parcel by calling 13POST and quoting the number.

Yes, as far as I know only the express international is trackable, and accepted by PP. That is why so many items coming from O/S have such a high postage.
I am sure you will OK, while the registration is not accepted by PP, it is a safe way to post as the recipient has to sign for it.

Thanks, Alice. I just stupidly didn't have everything planned beforehand or was hoping that someway, somehow online tracking would be available, even though Aus Post clearly states that it isn't for International Registered parcels.
If you could please let me know how the parcel is going, that would be fantastic. The tracking number is: RQ034597392AU ๐

Hi Soul,
I can see that this was despatched from Australia on 18/08 and was scheduled to arrive in France on 20/08. Unfortunately France have not yet forwarded any further electronic scans for this article so at this stage I am not able to confirm any further movements.
While we rely on the receiving country to scan these articles and make the scans available to us for our records, this does not always happen, but if the addressee has not received the item by 03/09, let us know and we can launch an investigation with French Post for you.
Alice
