Item not received

Hi,

I was hoping someone could give me advice regarding a buyer not receiving an item. They contacted me on Friday to say it had not arrived. I asked that they wait to see if it came in today's mail. I have messaged them today and they say it has still not arrived (it was posted 13/4 from Vic to country WA).

Now, the item wasn't sent registered post but I have the Aust Post receipt showing I posted the parcel to their postcode. What is the normal procedure here? Obviously I feel bad it hasn't arrived but I did send it and am still holding onto the hope it will turn up.

Am I supposed to refund the buyer or do I just feel bad and wear the neg feedback?

Any advice appreciated.

If they open a dispute and you can not prove postage to their address they will be refunded by paypal anyway and you lose the dispute.

Tell the buyer you will get in touch with Aust Post and see if they can locate he item.

If you are going to sell a bit then register to click and send as that giver seller protection and tracking.

2 weeks is pretty normal for mail going from east coast to WA by road, and in this moment there seem to be mail hold ups all over the place.

Tell the buyer that you will report the parcel missing to AP, and if it cannot be located you will refund them.  Hopefully, it will turn up in meanwhile.

Although some people claim that lately PP did accept just the receipt with post code.

Posted on the weekend often means it doesn't get picked up until Monday..15th. We have also had a public holiday in that time. My guess is that it is still on the way. It has only just been 2 weeks which is quite normal for country WA.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Sinice I posted the question I went onto the Aust Post website and put in the parcel number that was on the receipt and it shows that the parcel was delivered on 22/4. I didn't even realize that the parcel had tracking (live and learn) so I guess the plot thickens!

I have passed this info on to the buyer and will await their response. So thankful I kept the receipt.

Thanks again everyone.

In that case enter the tracking number here

http://auspost.com.au/track/

And copy and paste it in a message to the buyer.

Does the tracking show delivery to their address or just to the nearest mail centre? If it is the latter and the mail centre has the same postcode as is on the receipt then you should be OK but if it isn't then you cannot prove it was delivered and if the buyer knows what they are doing you will lose.
