Quick question for the Vetran eBayers from a Novice.
I have used my forty free listings for April and have scheduled some items to start on 1st May and on each the $1.50 listing fee appeared when I created the ad
I have assumed that when it ticks over to May and I get my forty free listings for May, the listings I created in April and scheduled to start in May should then list with no listing fee being chargable.
Here's the question: Does anyone know if I am correct in my assumption that the listing fee will be dropped off when it ticks over to May or will I still get slugged the $1.50 listing fee as the ads were created in April?
(P.S. If you give the wrong information and I get slugged the listing fee on dodgy information I'll be sending you an invoice and a very stern letter indeed )

Apologies..............had a brain fade in the initial post.
Where I've written April I meant May and where I've written May I meant June.

Scheduled listings are charged when they go live, and if you have any promotional freebies (standard or extra), they will be used. Often, the fees show on a preliminary page, but are calculated correctly (i.e. removed) once everything is officially confirmed. I suspect the $1.50 fee is showing because you can reschedule a listing at any time or revise and list it immediately.
I'm confident enough in the above info to risk a stern letter.... umm, and *maybe* one listing fee, two if the stern letter makes me or

Thanks for the response. It makes sense and ties in with what I was thinking.
I'll try and double check them before the scheduled start time on the 1st and make sure so we can do away with the stern letter.

...............and we now have a definite answer to the question I originally posed.
Having used my 40 free listings for May and in the name of prior planning (in order to avoid something something performance) scheduling some items to start on 1st June (in the belief that they would fall under my 40 free listings for June) it would appear that what is considered logical by myself and others is NOT aligned with eBay logic.
Yup, even though the items didn't actually list until 1 June, I have been charged the $1.50 listing fee for each item and still have 40 free listings for June.
So much for trying to plan ahead. Not a massive financial hit by any means but, a situation that leaves a somewhat unpleasant taste in ones mouth when the logic of eBay flies in the face of human logic and common sense.
Stern letter and invoice as previously promised currently being prepared.

It might be worth your while contacting eBay about it, because they certainly apply things the other way around (eg if you create scheduled listings during a promotion, but they don't actually go live until after the promotion has ended, you get charged the fees).
But...feel free to send me that stern letter, and I will actually make good on my word.

.............and behold! On the contacting of eBay the listing fees magically dissapear and the listed items come off my free listing tally for June.
All is well in my eBay world and I have learnt new things.
Thanks all, DG in particular, for your input and assistance and sense of good humour akin to my own.

Glad to hear it 🙂 (Mostly about the credit, but also a bit because it means I avoided the letter 'n fees ).
