One Year TOO Long

Does anyone else think one year is too long for a negative to stay on a sellers account?

It is especially disappointing, when the negative comes from a new buyer who does not even have the courtesy to respond or be contactable.

I agree entirely, as a buyer it's good to know if there is negative feedback in recent times - but a year ago really is too long - about three months seems fair to me but I have no doubt views will differ on this issue!

ks15a 3 months was exactly the time frame I felt is more reasonable.

If a seller is a bad seller, they are likely to get lots of negatives anyway, regardless of the time frame.

But take a seller with only one negative for example, that negative affects their whole score, even though most likely the negative was the buyers fault.

If a seller has only one negative, surely the seller is not a really terrible seller that they should be crucified.

Also, surely ebay can see that when a seller is communicating through ebay messages, and getting no responce at all from the buyer, that the buyer has no intention of doing the right thing.

We have sent several messages to this buyer trying to understand them or help them. They have no intention at all, as they simply ignore.

And yes they know how to use ebay messages, because they were communicating at the start, when they were asking about how long the item takes to arrive.

As a seller thinking only about my own interests, I'd be inclined to agree with you....

But as a buyer I think it's beneficial to be able to see if any problems are recurring issues over a decent period of time. Three months is not long enough to really see if there is a persistent pattern, or there has been just a recent spate. In fact, sometimes I have been given a little extra confidence in a seller if they have a few negs, but all from longer than 6 months ago (i.e. it suggests to me that whatever the issues were, things have improved since then).

Plus, there are other sites where negs permanently affect a sellers percentage, and there is a link to see all negs/neuts received no matter if they were 1 day or 5 years old, so thank heavens for small mercies. Smiley Very Happy

You have ONE neg, Alex, and it has hardly affected your feedback rating. Or your stars.

You cant win em all. Im guessing your guy wanted real diamonds for $20.

As a seller maybe 12 months is too long

As a buyer im all for it.

So I guess I would be happy to settle for 6 months 😛
