Can anyone tell me what happens to a registered large letter when it does not get picked up from the P.O.  According to tracking it hass been carded.  I know it will come back to me but how long do they hold them?  I looked at AP site but a blonde moment and couldnt find anything. TIA

Its not only my opinion, it is in their published terms and conditions.

If there has been a change in APs "policy" it is not reflected in their current T&Cs, which means the charge is invalid and should be withdrawn. 

But of course I am sure all the helpful regulars would have pointed that out to the other posters.

Some months ago we had an express package failed to arrive. Well it took 6-weeks to arrive.

We sent out a replacement which did arrive next day as it should have in the first place.

When I asked our local PO about it they said to let the recipient know to just mark it as RTS if it turns up and it would be returned to us at no extra cost.

We let our buyer know that but the item took 6-weeks to arrive.

By then they had forgotten about it and when it arrived they opened the package before it arrived. So no RTS.

They were honest enough to let us know it had turned up and then they returned it to us but by express post too. ARGHH!

So we refunded them for their extra cost.

Then we submitted a claim to AP for the original late delivery and for the extra cost we incurred by the buyer returning the missing one to us by express. They ended up sending us out two replacement satchels, but it did take some convincing for them to do that.

We took the matter to the PIO and they applied some pressure for us.

Thanks everyone for your input.  Guess I will see if I have to pay again or not.  Will be a bit annoying but what can you do.
