SCAM BUYERS!

I am trying to sell my xBox in a bundle with some controllers and some games as one item. In years gone by, I have sold a few other old consoles. Never had any problems.

This time is different.

So far, I have tried to sell it three times. First time, was a scammer. I am n Melbourne. She is in the Us, but on holiday in New Zealand and wants me to ship the item to Nigeria. I immediately get cautious. Following that, eBay sends me a message that appears in my messages on the site, telling me the buyer is a fraud and that the sale has been cancelled.

Okay. I relist item. Same thing happens. Third time's the charm right? Listed the item a third time. I strongly suspect this buyer is a scammer as well.

What changed in the last three years to create such an increase in scam buyers?

With electronic items that are common targets for fraud, I'd recommend not offering international postage and setting your buyer blocks to 'block buyers in locations I don't post to'. It's unlikely that this will chase away any legitimate interest and greatly reduces your chances of the Nigerian scammers being able to bid on or buy your item.

Someone with better knowledge might confirm this but

if your listing as Buy Now , change it to Auction as it attract fewer scammers ( they don't like waiting for auctions to end)

That is going to be my next step, but this current attempt has yet to be shut down by eBay. They seem to be pretty prompt, usually withing 4-5 hours eBay have shut down the process completely, and told me not to make further contact or to continue with the sale at my own risk. Once they do that, I'll relist my item specifying Australia.

Can I delete/cancel the sell if the item hasn't been paid for yet?

If you are going to relist with the buy now price then set it up so when the buyer clicks on buy now they will have to pay straight away.

Until they pay with paypal the item is still active for anyone to purchase and pay.

This is called Immediate Payment Required.

When you post it make sure you use registered post so you have proof of postage and can see what it has been delivered and signed for.

That immediate payment feature requires me to upgrade my PayPal account, and because I don't use ebay, that often, I'm not so inclined to do that, as I presume to costs money...

You need to upgrade your PP account to accept payments anyway.

There is no fee in doing this any way.

It really makes no difference to what you have now.

It really makes no difference to what you have now except you can accept payments.

If you do not up grade any one that pays you will not have the payment go through and it will sit as pending till you claim it and they have the option to cancel the payment as it will be showing as unclaimed.

By upgrading your PP account will save a lot of issues for you once a payment is made.
