I recently sold an item on Ebay shipped, received the money, and figured end of story.
Next thing I know the item shows up at my house again. So, I go onto ebay and see that there is a chain of messages that I had no idea about (no notification emails sent to my linked email account - so I had no way of knowing until I logged back onto Ebay).
Apparently, the buyer had requested a refund (don't know why ebay lets you say no refunds when you list and item because that means nothing apparently), I had not seen this request, so the seller escalated. Ebay still did not send any notification to my email. Ebay approved a refund and sent me a message that the amount would be taken from my bank account. Nothing in my email inbox, all communication was on the message service on the Ebay website.
I was pretty annoyed already, because when I checked the item there was nothing wrong with it.
However, when ebay messaged me the amount that would be deducted from my account I was shocked to see that it was not going to be the $302 I had received for selling the item, but $361 the full amount that the seller had paid.
So I sell the item, ebay takes their cut (fair enough), seller complains and is automatically given a refund by Ebay, I have to pay the full refund myself including ebays cut and the cost of return shipping, ebay keeps the $48 that they took as a selling fee. Now I am over $80 out of pocket and I have done nothing wrong. Won't be using this website to sell ever again and I will be warning every person who will listen about this.

eBay don't let you say no refunds, no idea where you got that idea from, but anyway
It allows sellers not to accept change of mind returns. Big difference
If a seller does not respond to a dispute, the cases automatically closes in favour of the buyer
But there is no point for other members to go into anything else, since you are not going to use eBay any more
Best warn others if they are going to use eBay, to know their obligations when doing so
eBay will always side with the buyer
Even more so when a chain of messages is ignored

Is your current email account correctly recorded with ebay.
Does your ebay account settings have notifications enabled.
Yes, if you lose a dispute or fail to reply to a dispute, then you lose the ebay selling fee, and are also likely to receive a $22 dispute resolution Fee.
Selecting no returns, only applies to COM returns. Buyers always have a right of return if the product is not as described, faulty etc.
