Seller restriction - help

Hi guys

I've had my account restricted and can't sell items because I was told that I was associated to my sister's restricted accounts as our contact/account/ financial info are similar.
Now obviously they're similar because we have the same last name, live at the same address and have the same financial institution. But we don't have the same PayPal, bank account number or first name. I find it unfair that I'm being penalised for something my stupid sister did! I've tried to offer my bank/drivers license info but ebay haven't wanted to look at it.

If you saw what I would sell compared to my sister's accounts you'll notice straight off the bat that they're completely different. What I don't understand is that I've been on ebay for a good few years now and have solid feedback why would I open other accounts??

Has anyone been in a similar situation and had any luck uplifting their restriction?

Thanks

Natasha

As the IP address is the same they will restrict any account coming from that address till the restriction time has passed whether the accounts are linked or not.

She would get bad feedback. Her items weren't as described I think so she'd open up a new account to get good feedback again and the cycle would just repeat itself

Well unfortunately my account has been restricted indefinitely. It's been about a year now. When I first got the message that I couldn't sell I tried to resolve it but they wouldn't budge. So I tried messaging again a month or so ago and they still didn't want to change my seller status.

My name is being tarnished because my sister can't abide by the rules. it's ridic

๐Ÿ˜ž It's sounds like you really need to discuss these major issues with your sister.  I'm not sure what you can do. ( If anything )  Sounds pretty grim though.

Get hold of a smart phone, open a new id on it, that way the ip addy is changed, you should be able to log into it through computer.

If that was me, id call and speak to a supervisor and let them know youre going to make a complaint to the ACCC and obtain legal advice if they dont reinstate your account. When you do that, make a point of asking the persons name, and ask if Ebay records phone calls - request that they do as soon as you get onto a supervisor.

Being prejudice toward you because of something your sister did (or anyone else in this world) is not an ethical business practice. Legally, you do not have to prove you are two different people - they are the ones accusing, therefore the onus is on them.  and when you speak to them - use those words.

Households are not condemned because of what one person within might have done, or because two people MIGHT be the same person.

Can you imagine if someone like Telstra cut your account because they thought you MIGHT be your sister or someone else, and they had done something wrong? or woolies?  "oh you cant come in here anymore because you might have something to do with someone who behaved poorly here. "

Not in this lifetime. Ebay is no different. Offer them relevant ID to prove that you are not your sister. thats all you need to do - whether or not their business systems allow this to show the difference between the two people is not your problem.

Thats a really old solution to things doesnt really work - back in the day when people thought IP's identify a persons address or exact location or computer. lol

Depends if you have a roaming or static IP - but you can turn off the modem, unplug, reset and reconnect and youll have access again.

If not, just hide behind a proxy or two (you can google how to do that manually, dont use a website since you have bank details etc on Ebay / Paypal). Problem solved. Takes 2 minutes.

I dont think theyre that silly (or maybe they are) - They have probably manually banned the accounts.
