Not being a seller (YET) I am very interested in knowing the results.
I won't be voting however if you can keep an update of the final result it would be appreciated.

Syrup, I dont know what the sellers think but as a buyer, i couldnt care less what is in a subtitle. I am only looking at the picture and brief description to see if I want to open the item and have a further look. The description does play a part, because if as a buyer I can see that the description is wrong I will assume the seller does not know what they are talking about or selling and pass straight by it.

When I am buying, I dont even look at the subtitle, so I think by sending you an email they just want you to pay more.

I have occasionally used a sub-title to explain the intended use of the item. Since the length allowance for the title has been expanded, I can fit this into the one entry.
My experience was that the sub-title was not worth the cost.

Another buyer's reaction....I rarely look at subtitles so would not care if they were there or not.
Like bsal, the item title and picture is what entices me to look further at a listing.

I personally think it's just like any tool - useful in select circumstances and only if used the right way. 😉
In a list of results, IMHO the information that's in the subtitle will only be useful if it tells people something that they don't already know or can't assume, and is of greater benefit to them one way or another.
I used them earlier this year on a couple of items to advertise the fact that I was running a promotion - buy two or more items from the category these items were in and get free shipping. That was information someone would otherwise only get if they opened the listing and saw the banner, and it did work.
I wouldn't put one on every product or listing, just those that are relatively popular and/or have a decent position in search results. I don't generally use caps in titles, but I made the subtitles all caps as the font is quite small and it made them stand out a little more.

I would never use it unless I had something extra that was really important to say and it wouldn't fit in the title.:-)

I have used subtitles on the odd occasion in the past, and it had absolutely no impact on sales results at all for me.
I am assuming it is just a way for ebay to get more in fees.
