items missing in searches

i regularly - usually daily, do a search for all items in the Music category .. there are always approx 20 million items .. this has plummetted to only 13 million this week .. it is not due to christmas because there were the usual 20 million on tuesday but only 13 million when i checked late on christmas day .. it is impossible that 7 million items (one third of all listings) finished in one day.

additionally, one of my favourite sellers shows as zero items yet there was an item on my watchlist after the zero items search .. i tried getting help from a guy from ebay but he seemed to know less than me and wouldn't get a supervisor to help.

any ideas ??????

thanks

Is it possible that you had switched to the .com site with a store search for the seller you knew had items?

eBay sometimes inexplicably changes from .com.au to .com.

If anything odd happens I always check the website to see, and then just add .au in, and refresh.

Then I am back to the aussie site and see all the items that are listed by an Australian seller.

So that's a possibility for the zero items seller ๐Ÿ™‚

As for millions of items disappearing, it could be a similar issue, or an eBay glitch during maintenance, for example...

I'm guessing that many sellers set holiday modes and had a few days off. That's what I did.
