Hi, some clarification on a previous postage question. My listings are all showing postage at the flat rate by eBay. I know that this only applies to items that weigh up to 1kg. over that is cubed. Buyers are only seeing the flat rate and paying accordingly. I have already cancelled one sale and asked buyer to wait for a new invoice with the correct postage.
I contacted eBay and was told to put in the dimensions and weight which I had already done and when buyers purchase and post code is known eBay would automatically calculate and put in the correct postage.I tried this , and the flat rate still shows on my listings. I have now had to review all my listings and and add "Please do not pay till I invoice you as postage shown is only an estimate"
I use satchels when I can, but most of my parcels do not fit in the satchels. Tried to find the cubic postage on the Aus. Post site and that still comes up with the flat rate "using your own packaging with charges according to weight." which only applies up to 1kg. in weight and not clearly shown.
Update on a previous query where a buyer paid $15.35 postage and parcel was cubed at $41. I cancelled sale and refunded as I did not think anyone would pay that amount for postage on a $30. item. Buyer contacted me and said that they would pay the new postage.I was suprised but proceeded with the sale and buyer was very happy with their purchase, so all ended well.
Thank you for your advice and help which is always appreciated. Patricia.

There is no need to squash a Bx4 box into anything - that is the whole point - the Bx4 box has its own flat rate postage.

It might work for some, but I don't send heavy items, so in my case it would be an added cost and inconvenience to me to be buying satchels when none of them would fit my boxes anyway. Does a B4 box fit into any of the satchels? Maybe ok if you are selling lead sinkers or some such thing.
The B4 box is the Extra Large box Holds up to 5kg 440 x 277 x 168mm
https://auspost.com.au/business/shipping/satchels-and-packaging/ebay-satchels-and-boxes#tab2
The box dont have to go into any satchels as they are used as the packaging container and have flat rates as has
been stated by others.

2. Are you using ebay label postage? It usually works out a bit cheaper for parcels.
Not anymore for satchels or the B boxes as they are the same price as AP with no discount given.
So eBay would now pocket the discount that used to be given to the seller.
If you use ebay postage for a Bx4 box it is $17.73 plus cost of the box
If you use Aust Post postage for a Bx4 box it is $18.50 plus cost of the box.

If you go into the link it clearly states for a B4 box Same Major City +$16.80 Other Major City +$17.73
Rural +$18.50
Those same postage costs apply with AP for all the same packaging options and there is no longer any discount
if using eBay labels for postage.

Exactly my point. I don't know why anyone would pay for a box then a satchel and try to fit the box into the satchel.

I am sending B4 boxes under 500grams for $8.95 anywhere in Australia, and if between 500grams to one kilo, it posts Australia wide for $12.20.

Isn't "flat rate" the same rate to all buyers? At least that is the information I am getting when I list items. I have never heard of flat rate being able to be re-calculated.

Ok,it seems that you don't seem to understand that the Post office boxes are just for putting your items in and
then posting the box.
Members who put boxes in satchels don't buy those boxes and instead they will use boxes that they get for free
or made up themselves.

Under 500 grams used to be the B1 box and it's still what you will be charged if you use your own packaging
that's under 500 grams,up to one kilo is $12.20 up to 3 kg $15.35 or $18.50 up to 5kg or it could be cubed if it's
over 1 kilo so you could pay a higher price when using your own packaging.
All the boxes have a set rate.
The B1 box (small) is now $8.95 postage and can have a weight of up 5 kilos in it which is the same as the
other B boxes as it's now if it packs it posts and they made the acceptable weight up 5 kgs for all boxes.
They have re-labelled the boxes as small, medium, large and extra large which used to be B1,a new one which
has been added to parallel the up to 1kg satchel,B2 and B4.
The B1 box (small) 220 x 160 x 70mm postage is: Same Major City +$8.21 Other Major City +$8.65
Rural +$8.95
The other box is termed medium 240 x 190 x 120mm postage is: Same Major City +$11.13 Other Major City
+$11.74 Rural +$12.20
The B2 box (large) 390 x 280 x 140mm postage is: Same Major City +$13.97 Other Major City +$14.73
Rural +$15.35
The B2 (large) box used to be 310 x 225 x 102 so can now take bigger items but for me would now cost $1 less
then the B4 (extra large ) box cost me before the price hikes and using the B4 is now out of the question for me.
The B4 (extra large) is 440 x 277 x 168mm postage is: Same Major City +$16.80 Other Major City +$17.73
or Rural +$18.50 .

Just been blown away by AP,I posted a small box and thought it would be $8.95 but I got charged $12.20 so I said hey this isn't correct, came home and checked the site and it said up to 5kg = $8.95 so I went back to the post office and explained that to them and they turned around and said if I had purchased the box at the same time then yes it would have been $8.95 **bleep**?
Since when did that become the rule?

If it was in one of their boxes it would not matter when you purchased it.
