A million dollars? I don't know. How about you start the bidding...

Not scarce? The self-published first edition that Matt Reilly did a print run of 1000 and sold from his bedroom at his parents' place?
You sure about that, Dave?

It's very, very scarce. No copies available online as far as I can tell. It could possibly fetch a couple of thousand.

Difficult to know whether to auction or set a price.
Or perhaps, Ebay isn't the right place for this? Perhaps a private specialised auction house who could advertise it?

I've only ever seen one for sale, and the asking price was 30K

Trade 1st can be had for around $40 that I could see
There is obviously a ltd ed before that then.

Reilly couldn't get a publishing deal, so he decided to go the self-publishing route (not so common before the internet took over our lives). He printed 1000 copies of Contest and then he hit the big time and the rest is history. It's quite a well-known story.
$30,000? Wowee! Ambitious I would've thought, but sometimes you have to be bold, I s'pose...

There is a signed copy available just shy of $4k
