Nobody listens to what you say.....the whole process is automated and you do not talk to anyone. And you certainly don't need to go through pages and pages of anything.
Just open the dispute and everything is automated....nobody lies to you or is rude to you. Before you open the dispute you need to opt into the paypal Return Postage paid option. You will be reimbursed for the return postage up to a limit of $45.
If the item was sent from Sydney you are definitely not obliged to send it back to China. Have you told paypal that the item was shipped from Sydney?
And there is no need for rudeness on your part. There have been no screw ups in my past ebay dealings so I doubt that there will be any in the future. I know how to deal with disputes and would certainly not be rude enough to dismiss any help I was offered if I did come to the boards for help.

Is that right my dear? What you have written is the first I have heard of all that you have written.
This is what I wrote to Pay Pal, the trouble is I replied to their email and it was knocked back.
Dear Pay Pal this is where the package came from:
Dock 5, Block L, Park Road,
REGENTS PARK NSW 2143.
I will be returning the torch to the above address, the torch was advertised as stock in Austrailia.
I was told Consumer law in Austraila. If the item is broken and does not work it must be repaired or replaced with a new one or the purchase price of $88.25 be refunded. In no part of Pay Pals letter did thye mention anything you wrote. If tyhey did I would not have been stupid enough to carry on with all this.
The above is the email I could not get through to Pay Pal, I went to the disputes page expecting to find my case, (Case ID #PP-006-281-377-022) but no such luck I was told there was no pending disputes.
It was then I had had enough.
What would you have done, I phoned them and phoned them till I had had all I could take of trying and trying to get in touch with them.
We would not be hear if Pay Pal or ebay had emailed all that you know. Even being able to send an email to Pay Pay would have made all the difference. I have spent long days and nights on this and I have given up. They can have my pension money I will keep the broken torch and go back to living in peace.

Yes, everything I have told you is true....I would not post it on a public forum if it was not true.
You have done everything wrong which is why your claim has failed. You do NOT open a claim by emailing ebay or paypal. You just go to the Resolution Centre and open it there....no need to speak to anyone.
Obviously it is too late now to do much as your 6 months timeframe on paypal is almost up and they have already given you a dispute number.
Did you fund the payment with a Credit card or Visa debit card? If you did I suggest you talk to your bank about a chargeback....but do it soon as there are timelimits on that process too. Depending on your bank it may already be too late.
I do suggest that you read up on how to protect yourself on ebay.
Yours is a straightforward dispute that has gone spectacularly pearshaped because you do not know how to protect yourself.
