From 19 October 2022, new changes to our Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication Policy will go live.
What’s changing
If you’re a seller with a current listing in the Over-the-Counter Medications & Treatments category, these changes will help ensure you’re compliant with Australian regulations and that buyers can confidently purchase medication on eBay.
Changes to the Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication Policy include:
- Only business sellers will be allowed to list Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medications.
- Selling pharmacy medicine will now be allowed, but only by pharmacists that have been pre-approved by eBay under the new Pharmaceutical Policy.
- When listing medications, the relevant Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) number (AUST R or AUST L) will be required — clearly included and displayed.
- Complementary Medicines listings must also include the relevant Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) number (AUST R or AUST L).
Next steps
Read the Over-the-Counter Medications & Treatments Policy for all guidelines for selling.
Also, please note that from 19 October 2022, we will be removing Over-the-Counter medicines sold by private sellers.
