:^O What great idea Karen - I love it when folks share like that!
Could you swap some for a watermelon perhaps in advance?

Most people grow their own veggies here, so atm there is a glut of tomatoes. I'm going to get a watermelon tomorrow... Saw them today, they're huge!
One person grows weird shaped gourds but I'm not sure if they're for eating?
my fave is the bloke who grows strawberries... I'd forgotten how great fresh homegrown strawberries taste. Nomnom! I share them with my pet wild birds ๐

I love those weird shaped gourds.
I am not sure either whether they are for eating but they sure look interesting as decoration.

Or polish them or buff them up - some are really fantastic shapes.
We have fantastic gum nuts over here - they are huge - and people use them as Christmas decorations. They paint and varnish them and hang them from the tree - actually quite lovely.
I didn't do that though - I just have them (unvarnished) in a hand woven basket on a coffee table. I love the shapes and the textures.

I love those ideas... Making a bird house would be cool. I have a lot of birds nesting around here.

It also says they are inedible as they have very little flesh and often taste bitter - sounds good enough reasoning for me lol
