Do you want the loan of the jigsaw I got for Christmas?? 🙂

Oh. I think making musical instruments might test my creativity lol. I do remember at school using percussion shakers made from gourds.

I might get one from her and see how easy they are to hollow out

.

I have never tried to do anything with a gourd. Do they harden as they grow?  If so and you want to carve it, I wonder if you can soak it until it is very soft, carve it and then dry it out again?  Or do they have hard outsides like a walnut which would not soften?

I am off to bed. Good night Stringsters 🙂

I have never tried to cut into them Prim.  I just like the burnished look many of them get as they age.

Karen we used to use coconut shells in our percussion band at school - and also gourds as Maracas.  Never thought to work out how they got the bead things inside to make the noise lol

.

I think they're like pumpkins, carve-able with some difficulty and hopefully not too many missing fingers

She had them sitting along her front fence, hope there are some left tomorrow.
