Catastropohic even though it is the strongest term, does not seem strong enough. You  can almost feel the fear in the voices of the commentators on the television.

Thank goodness the children are not at school. I see our temp has been revised to 43 (though where I am is usually a few degrees hotter).

After a conversation with gathered neighbours this Christmas, I have discovered we have quite a few blue tongues sharing our backyards. So I have just put out bowls of water for the birds AND blue tongues.

I think  I will close all the doors and windows and put on the aircon today and I have never ever done that before.

Icy, I am feeling for you driving to and from work today, I hope it is not too stressful for you.

Unless our electricity is affected I think we will be ok but I know there are a lot of people who are going to struggle today. I hope companies have enough sense to not make people work in the worst of the heat.

it looks like we're only 33 degrees today but 83% humidity Friday is looking like it's going to be the worst day here this week with 40 degrees.

we have overcast weather ATM

unless they've changed the forecast without updating the BOM website 

They just said again 'Victoria on high alert too' so maybe they mean near the NSW/Vic border?

I think we have got a large fire fire burning somewhere Prim. We came out of last Friday OK, There were lots of fires but the fireys managed to contain them all. if there's wind they could flare up again, We don't have wind in Melb. but the weather can be different in other parts of the state.

The main problem is there's been so much growth this year and it's all now so dry
