OK, so now all that is solved. Does drill mean scroll?

I'm assuming it is freak, never heard the term drill in association with a computer (unless someone was going to drill a hole in it!)

Just letting you guys know that I took the advise of some of my friends on this forum and downloaded the TuneUp Utilities trial version and ran it.

What a shock I got.

Thousands of errors/probs. I assume some more serious than others, maybe some not serious at all but it took about an hr to clean it all up.

So I guess that begs the question as to why bother with McAfee? Every year, religiously I renew my subs at a cost of $70 but if there are still so many probs EVEN after McAfee has run scans almost every day and each time telling me that everything is fine with my system and that no further action is required, what's the pt of it?

Should I change to Norton? Or maybe just abandon virus-scanning software altogether, if it's so ineffective.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

I have used both those two and would never again... viruses are written to circumnavigate some of those antivirus programs..

I have used Bullguard on all our systems for over five years....

That is on three devices; two laptops and one PC....

now two of those machines are used by children and children are known for not being overly cautious... one of those kids torrents a lot and torrenting is very prone to viruses...

Only once have we had a problem with viruses and that was when frustration took over and the eldest child didn't scan the download...

have a look here and see what you think.. the best thing about Bullguard is that you can get live help so next time things play up you can have personal help fast.

they have a two month free trial... can't help to give it a go...

oh.. and Bullguard has a lot of helpful tools such as the checking the latest versions of your drivers and stuff like that...

oh.. and sorry forgot to add...

Tuneup is not an antivirus program.... it helps clean and maintain your computer or laptop registry.

NEVER get rid of your antivirus.. ever... you must always have one when connected to the internet... ALWAYS....

you have done the right thing and have protected yourself this whole time believe it or not.

Buy Tuneup.. well worth it.. and you can keep using the 2013 for years... when the year runs out you can still use it..

Remember to always update... update... and update...

good advice, thanks but just lastly what do you mean by "update update update"?

I thought McAfee does this all the time, as its constantly telling me that everything is up to date and fine. My subs are always renewed every October
