I have a feeling that it is being done to try to create a rift.

I would guess that whoever the button pushers are, they do it out of sheer spite and to pit people against each other for no other reason than mischief.

I call on the moderators to take note of the people reporting posts, I think they would sea a very distinct pattern that has nothing to do with voilating board policy.
