Prim, you can plant lemon grass and citronella grass. Some people swear by citronella geraniums but I've read they don't work. Real citronella looks similar to lemon grass... both very easy to grow.
you cut off the top 6 inches and then sprinkle it around your outdoor table... Smells divine, but bities hate it. I am allergic too, so I'll do anything to thin them out... And I don't like manufactured chemicals because they are unhealthy for me and for my squillions of pet wild birds.
