After arriving at the correct answer yesterday ....I was interested that many found alternative answers to this sum.   I showed my 12 year old daughter, and asked how she would work it out.   Immediately, she placed brackets around the multiplication and division, and said the answer is 7.  😄   She also said, she has had to show at least three of her teachers how to correctly set out sums like this, and apply BODMAS....:-(     Thankfully, she's smarter then they are!!

Yes....three teachers.  Year 5,6 and 7.

She was involved with the advanced maths program during those years and found her classroom teachers to be some what confused. I  feel for the students who were most likely just confused by their teachers.....as my daughter is very confident...she delighted in pointing out the correct way to do it...:-)

my elder son used to do that. One day he was thrown out of computer science and disciplined for correcting the teacher - even though the teacher was wrong.

I feel your pain rabbitearbandicoot, she's told me her high school computer teacher doesn't know anything.....here we go again.....:8}

Bob 3.5 was a joke my grandson had already told me 7 before I could even work it our myself.

Grandson wanted the computer to play minecraft and was looking over my shoulder LOL

He got his way in the end.

regardless of how you go about it the correct answer will ALWAYS be 1

Numerically 6-1x0+2÷2 = 1

Mathematically 6-1x0+2÷2 = 7

Similarly, on a standard calculator = 1

              on a scientific calculator = 7
