At my age, no. At this stage in my life I intend going to my grave with my boobs on.

If I was young with kiddies to raise I would definitely take any chance I could get to prolong my life to be there for my family.

I was a little cross about the story re the lady who has BC after her bi lateral mastectomey. "they might have missed a cell"

They might not have too...... any number of other things might have occurred.

She was very strong and seemed positive in her interview.

my thoughts too.....many times I have heard women at the social support group mention their secondary breast cancer was found but no primary in the breast at all. Goes to show a bi lateral is not as safe as they make out? 

I felt the young man needs a lotof help to over come his fear. There is much what if when in fact no one can predict the future and as time goes on a cure is getting closer. Talk of removing such gene has been documented of late also. I am concerned for my 3 but nothing I can do to prevent what may happen......a close watch by them is all is important as is early detection.

kind of off topic a little bit, but if you have reconstructive surgery, do you still need to wear a bra or do they sort of just stay put?

To be on topic, I don't know, so far I have been fortunate to have not been placed into that situation. My current views are that if I am diagnosed with something like this that I would work harder and faster on my bucket list and hope like crazy that the end arrived quickly and relatively pain free,

But again, I've not yet been faced with such a scenario, and I do tend to stick my head in the sand about such things, so perhaps my position would change if faced with the prospect or really choosing between life or death iykwim.

well Polka, you know what I mean, don't you? to stop you from wiggling....

Crikey..... if you want to keep some shape and stop the aging skin from sagging, a bra is preferable? It is only the prosthetic that is not natural and should stay the same.

I am much against prosthetics as I worked at a private hospital that pioneered the first ones  that became available in the 70's.....there were botched ops, scars that were horrific, leakage.... allergic reactions.... and yes, I know that today's are safer but... when will we ever be safe?

Thanks for that answer Az, I was hoping that my question didn't offend anyone, as it wasn't my intention, it was just something I always wondered with so many people availing themselves to this kind of thing these days for cosmetic reasons as opposed to health reasons iykwim.
